Dallas video production

Vantas makes video for marketing teams that need footage they can use across a website, paid ads and social, from a crew that plans the shoot before the camera comes out. We are a Dallas video production company that also shoots photography, so one production can cover both. We have made video for Hotel Herringbone in Waco, the launch of an InterContinental Hotels Group property in San Antonio, Choctaw Casinos & Resort, Noble Vines, SXSW, the San Antonio Museum of Art and Stantec.

What we film

  • Brand and property films for your website and paid placements
  • Event coverage: recap films, stage and speaker capture, and short cuts for social
  • Interview and founder films, shot with your team or with hired talent
  • Product video, in studio and on location, including the product in use
  • Drone aerials of buildings, grounds and sites, flown under FAA rules
  • Walkthroughs that follow a guest or customer through a space
  • Vertical cuts for social, delivered alongside the horizontal version

If you also need stills, our commercial photography in Dallas runs on the same shoot days with the same plan.

Video production by industry

How a video production runs

Every project starts with a discovery call with Woody Lawson, our owner and creative director. He takes the call and he directs the shoot. We ask what the video has to do, who will watch it, and where it will run, because a website film, a paid ad and a social cut need different lengths, framing and pacing.

Pre-production is finished before a shoot date is locked:

  • A signed agreement listing deliverables, cut lengths, aspect ratios, the shoot date and the delivery date
  • A creative brief and a shot list you approve, with reference films when they help
  • A location walkthrough, in person or by video, with your on-site contact
  • Talent, hair and makeup, and wardrobe booked when the film needs them, with releases signed
  • Drone authorization checked, permits pulled where required, and a weather backup for exteriors
  • A call sheet sent to the crew 72 hours ahead

On the day, the shot list is ranked. Hero shots are the ones the film fails without, so they are scheduled first and confirmed before we wrap. Shots are grouped by location, and the schedule carries buffer time between setups. Crew size runs from two people to fifteen depending on scope.

Post-production covers editing, color grading and sound design. Revision rounds are written into the scope. Video is delivered as finished MP4 exports in the cuts named in your agreement, horizontal and vertical when social is in scope.

Single productions and retainers

A single production fits a defined moment: a launch, an opening, an event, a rebrand. You get a fixed list of cuts, a shoot date and a delivery date.

A retainer fits a team that needs new footage through the year. It sets a monthly scope of shoot time and deliverables, includes a planning session each month, and holds the monthly rate fixed for the initial term.

What drives the cost of a video

  • Crew size and the number of shoot days
  • The number of locations, and travel outside Dallas
  • Talent, hair and makeup, wardrobe and styling
  • Drone work and permits
  • The number of finished cuts, their length, and the depth of edit, color and sound work
  • Music licensing, and how and where the video will be used

Questions marketing teams ask about video production

Who owns the footage?

Our standard agreement gives you a non-exclusive, perpetual license to use the final deliverables for marketing, advertising, web and social media. Vantas keeps the copyright. If a partner, a parent brand or an agency needs the files, tell us in pre-production and we will write it into the agreement.

Can you shoot photography on the same day?

Yes. We plan stills and motion in one shot list and staff the crew for both, so you get one schedule and one set of approvals. Some setups need their own time, and the shot list shows where.

Do you work outside Dallas?

Yes. We work in more than ten U.S. markets, including Dallas, Denver, Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Phoenix, San Diego, Miami and Seattle, with local crew directed from Dallas to one standard. Projects outside our markets include travel in the scope.

Who provides talent and music?

We source talent and music when the scope includes them and clear the releases and licenses for your use. If you supply your own talent, staff or music, your team handles those clearances.

Do you carry insurance?

We carry general liability coverage for on-location production. If a venue or property needs a certificate or additional insured status, tell us early so it is in hand before the shoot date.
